Hi Carrie, I grow 3 different types of mallow hollyhocks and they are more than easy to grow. In fact, two of them, Malva Sylvesteris and a pink mallow, reproduce so prolifically that I don't like them to go to seed. I cut them back before the seed matures and throw the cuttings in the compost pile. Both of them survive our winters. The other one, Zebrina, is a perennial also but doesn't survive here in zone 5. But since it also drops seed I usually have plenty of new plants each spring. They prefer full sun but will bloom with part sun. I have blossoms every year from all three. Hope this helps, Diane |
