Hi Karen, Can you tell me the long range weather forecast? (Ha!Ha!) If you have a fall like last year,s you could plant with no problems in November. If the fall is like two years ago (snow at Thanksgiving that never melted until January) then the roots having warm enough weather to grow is questionable.Since we don't know, then the best thing to do is to plant them as soon as they are free to go into the ground, mulch with pine boughs when the ground freezes and remove them in the spring when temps warm up. Keep them watered well to promote root growth. You can find plenty of free pine boughs from Christmas Tree farms from the prunings. Just lay branches over top of the mums. Bye, Diane |
