Q.- I have planted pumpkins the last two years. The vines are beautiful with both male and female blossoms, but NO pumpkins. Any suggestions?
A.- Hi Sarah, You have an unusual problem. There are only two things I can think of since you have strong vegetative growth and both male and female blossoms. Do they get full sun? Pumpkins need full sun for best development. And how about the seeds? Are they purchased seeds or 'saved' seed from former pumpkins? Seeds from anything from the cucurbit family (squash, melons, pumpkins, cucumbers) often don't come back true to the parent fruit. It is always best to purchase seeds in the cucurbit family.
Pumpkins are heavy feeders and need soil with lots of nutrients too.
Hope you get pumpkins next year. Hoot
