I saw a cardinal this moring (mom said it was a male, it was very bright red) does this mean it is spring? It dosen't feel like it here in Michigian!!
A. Hi Katie! Spring IS coming but not quite yet. We will have some winter-like days still but some will also be pretty nice. The cardinal you saw is a bird that stays in Michigan for the winter. The farm I live on has them all winter, many of them.
If you want to find a bird that signals springtime, look for a Robin. But if you see one don't pull out your shorts and bathing suit yet! I have seen plenty of snow fall after I have spotted my first robin.
