Scary Things In The Garden

Scary Things in the Garden that shouldn’t be Scary

Snakes - Snakes eat insects also.  Most snakes are harmless.  You might live in area where there are poisonous snakes so you need to search for information about snakes that live in your area.  But most snakes are not going to hurt you and can be very helpful to gardeners.

Snakes help control rats, mice and other rodents by eating them.  They can find their prey (the animals they eat) by sticking out their tongues to ‘smell’.  A meal may last a snake a long time. Some large snakes, such as boas and pythons, can go without food for more than a year.  Smaller snakes may go for 6 to 12 months without food.

Be kind to scary things in your garden.

You need them to grow healthy plants.
